Hotel Review, Premier Inn, Birmingham Waterloo Street, England - July 2016

Hotel Review, Premier Inn, Birmingham Waterloo Street, England - July 2016.

I stayed at the Premier Inn on Birmingham's Waterloo Street in July 2016. I stayed one night bed and breakfast, I'm unsure as to what the cost of this was, as it was paid for by an employer, but the Premier Inn website is here, should you wish to research this: http://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/home.html .

The hotel is approximately a 7 minute walk from Birmingham New Street railway station, so is conveniently centrally located. This is a hotel with a very small and compact reception area. Check-in was very quick and painless.

The room was very nice and clean, with a good king-sized bed, which was very comfortable indeed. The air-conditioning was absolutely fabulous, on a sticky July day, it brought the temperature down nicely and very quickly.

I ate in the bar / restaurant at night, which is branded somewhere in-between an American Diner and a Hipster type venue. For me it was neither, and didn't quite work concept wise. The food, at night was wonderful, the Ploughman's Lunch (which was lacking both cheese and spring onion - take note Premier Inn), was very good. The Scotch Egg was delicious. I had sweet potato fries with this and they were very good too.

The breakfast was very disappointing, it was included in my room rate and was basically unlimited ordering from the menu. All I wanted was a full English Breakfast, bacon, eggs, baked beans....and unbelievably it was missing from the menu! I was gutted, as my previous full English Breakfast in this hotel in 2014 was outstanding. I really did not enjoy the breakfast I was served this time around. The bacon was a big lump of fat, the sausage 'patty' was just weird in appearance and flavour. The Baked beans had salsa in them, it was a complete car crash, and as long as I live I would not eat that disgusting shambles again. Once again Premier Inn - PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

I will mention the good aspects, which were the fruit juices and coffee machines, which I had unlimited access to. Food aside, the rooms here are comfortable, I slept well, and I do like this hotel, but please, please, please sort out your breakfasts!!! I definitely won't stop at this hotel again, until a proper full English breakfast is back on the menu.
