They absolutely #love Cristiano #Ronaldo in #Madeira, there is even a museum dedicated to him! Outside the #museum stands this #bronze #statue...supposedly of the man himself - except it doesn't look anything like him whatsoever! I don't normally berate the work of others, but I'm sorry to say that this is an #art #fail. It's not quite as bad the Michael Jackson statue that was at Craven Cottage, but it's not a lot better! I also can't understand why the #artist has put him in a goalkeeper stance, the hands are also far too big and out of proportion. #poor #football #Madeira #Funchal #Portugal #IgersMadeira #travel #tourism #tourist #coulddobetter #soccer

Hotel Review: SANA Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal - January 2016

Hotel Review: SANA Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal - January 2016.

I stayed at the SANA Lisboa hotel in Lisbon, in January 2016, I stayed on the 11th floor of this hotel for 4 nights bed and breakfast which cost £259, booked with booking.com.

The hotel is a very busy business and conference hotel, with large and impressive facilities. The room was very modern and plush, with an extremely large bed, table and chairs, desk area, wardrobe, safe and very modern bathroom. I was extremely comfortable in this room.

To get to the hotel from the airport, was a 35 minute metro journey, with one change of train (look on the Lisbon metro map for details), it was pretty straightforward though.

The hotel facilities are all excellent, the breakfast buffet was extensive, one of the best that I have ever had, and I very much enjoyed it. All of the staff were friendly and professional, giving great customer service.

Overall I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and I would certainly consider staying here again in future.

Review: Mercador Luxury Apartments, Lisbon, Portugal - May 2016

I stayed at the Mercador Luxury Apartments in June 2016. Two of us stayed there for 5 nights, bed and breakfast, which cost 625 Euro with booking.com. Upon arrival at the apartments, we were met by 'Juan', who was very helpful, and provided us with information about Lisbon, and his mobile number / whatsapp in case we needed to contact him again whilst there.

The apartment was lovely, the decor was period traditional Portugese mixed with something more contemporary, and the apartment did feel very luxurious. The breakfast is in the fridge of the apartment, which includes eggs, bread, yoghurts, milk, fruit juice, tea, coffee, cheese, jam, cereal and cooked meats. It is an apartment, so you cook this yourself, but that was fine with us. All of the facilities for cooking were contained within the apartment.

We had a very nice stay here, we enjoyed the central location, and close proximity to Avenida Metro station for getting around. If you are looking to stay in Lisbon, and you don't want a busy hotel, then this apartment may be worth considering.

This film features views of the apartment, including exterior street views, views of the communal hallway, stairs and landing, and views around our apartment, including the kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Mercador Luxury Apartments, which was very comfortable indeed. I would definitely consider staying here again in future.

Review: Maldron Hotel, Tallaght, Dublin - Ireland, May 2016

Review: Maldron Hotel, Tallaght, Dublin - Ireland, May 2016.

I stayed at the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght in May 2016, two of us stayed with bed and breakfast for £147 (187 Euro) on a Saturday and Sunday night booked with booking.com.

The hotel is in a modern building and looks impressive from the outside. On the inside there are some signs of wear and tear, and in places refurbishment would not go astray. With that said our bedroom  on the third floor (301), was very nice and had been refurbished in recent years. We had a very large balcony, which gave us a good view of the Shamrock Rovers football ground.

The room had tea and coffee making facilities, ample storage, a good sized bed, and was easily spacious enough for us. The  bathroom was modern and refurbished. The hotel breakfast buffet was very good indeed, and I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

I was not as enamoured with the swimming pool as I thought I would be. It needed some refurbishment, and was quite busy, making it difficult to have a decent swim. It was also a bit of a circuitous route getting to it, and the waterfall / massage beds were not in working order.

The main disadvantage of staying in this hotel was its physical location from Dublin city centre. The tram ride, whilst enjoyable for the first time became onerous, and we also found reluctance from taxi drivers to take us to Tallaght, one even wanted 'danger money' as an extra, due to the area being 'unsafe'.

If you are wanting Radisson Blu luxury, this hotel is not for you, but if you want cheap and fairly decent accommodation, and you don't mind the tram ride into the centre of Dublin, then this hotel could work for you.

Public Enemy LIVE at The Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England - 15th June, 2016.

Public Enemy is an American hip hop group consisting of Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff, Khari Wynn, DJ Lord, and the S1W group. Formed on Long Island, New York in 1982, they are known for their politically charged music and criticism of the American media, with an active interest in the frustrations and concerns of the African American community. This film features excerpts from the recent support slot that Public Enemy played to The Stone Roses at The Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Barnsley FC 3 - 1 Millwall FC, Play Off Final, Wembley Stadium, London, ...

This film features footage in the build up to, during and the celebrations afterwards of the English League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium in London. The game was the end to a rollercoaster season for Barnsley, who at one point were bottom of the league. This ending was a superb lift to all the reds fans who had made the long journey down south.

From the Guardian: In any other season, Barnsley’s promotion from League One, achieved after they defeated Millwall 3-1 in the play-off final at Wembley, might be considered the most implausible and remarkable story it is possible to imagine. They were bottom of the table in November, in February lost the manager who started their revival and now they are in the Championship. To read more of this remarkable story, click here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/29/barnsley-millwall-league-one-play-off-final-match-report .
