Dublin, Ireland: A detailed tour of the city and suburbs (filmed May / J...

Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Dublin is
in the province of Leinster on Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River
Liffey. To read more about Dublin, click here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dublin

This film is a detailed tour around the city of Dublin, and
some of its suburbs. The film begins with the arrival at Dublin Airport, a
subsequent tour North around the suburbs of Swords and Malahaide, before
entering the city centre and exploring areas on both sides of the River Liffey,

within the film, which highlight's Dublin's attractions, architecture, culture,
music, pubs, streets, parks, gardens, churches, cathedrals, natural features,

explorations of Dublin that is available online, and anyone wishing to explore
Dublin would benefit from viewing this film first.

The film is created from three short visits that I made to
Dublin in May, June and July, 2016. I get around by using public transport

Hotel Review: Regency Hotel, Dublin, Ireland - July 2016

Hotel Review: Regency Hotel, Dublin, Ireland - July 2016.

I stayed one night at the Regency Hotel, just north of Drumcondra in Dublin, in July, 2016. I booked with Alpharooms, and paid for one night bed and breakfast.

I chose this hotel due to its close proximity to Dublin Airport, as well as the city centre. The hotel is served by excellent public transport links, via the bus stop outside on Drumcondra Road Upper, where there is a bus into the centre of Dublin, roughly every 10 minutes. There is a direct bus to the bus stop on Drumcondra Road Upper from the Airport, which is the number 41, the name of the stop is Swords Road (Griffith Down).

I bought a 3 day Dublin Leap Card from the Spar shop at Dublin Airport, this cost 20 Euro, a daily ticket costs 10 Euro, so buying a 3 day one was the same price as buying 2 day tickets. I then used this on all public transport (buses, trams, trains) within Dublin.

The hotel is a very large building set back from the main road, it isn't that pretty to look at from the outside, it looks lie a mish mash of blocky extensions, but inside is a different story, with a mixture of classic, homely, and contemporary decor and furnishings.

It was 30 degrees in Dublin when I arrived (very unusually hot for the city) so I asked for a room on a high floor that would not have the sun shining on it, and that would have good air conditioning to keep cool. I was allocated room 3142, which was at the back of the hotel, and a good 3 minute walk from the lift.

The room was a good size, it had a very large king sized bed, wardrobe, TV, draws, chairs, desk and ample plug sockets. The air conditioning was excellent and really cooled the room down very effectively, it even worked with the window open (from which there is a bit of a view of Croke Park).

The bathroom was very modern, it had a shower-bath, which I am not too keen on, but it worked just fine, a decent sink, toilet and free toiletries.

The hotel has a separate health club, the 'Regency Health Club', which has a good sized swimming pool. I enjoyed using the swimming pool a great deal, although it did get fairly busy with health club members. Some older ladies took up two lanes in the pool while they walked up and down and gabbed constantly. A member quipped to me that they are there every day. I can just imagine it to be honest! You need to have a bathing / swimming hat to use the pool, and I had to buy one from the health club for 3 Euro. It looked like some kind of do-rag on me!

The breakfast buffet at the hotel was extensive and excellent, truly a sumptuous banquet with cereals, continental and full Irish breakfast options - it was just great. The only very slight negative were the queues caused by groups of (mostly) American tourists staying at the hotel.

This film features: external views of the hotel; the lobby / lounge area; reception; the lift / elevator; views along third floor corridors; a detailed room inspection of room 3142 including the bathroom; the health club including the swimming pool and male changing area; bar; restaurant; breakfast buffet; and family / games room.

Overall I very much enjoyed my time at this hotel, and would very much consider staying here again in future.
