Today the building is still used for #education and is a part of #ShipleyCollege, where it is known as the Salt Building. #HenryMoore was an #artist from #Castleford, near #Wakefield and an alumni of #Leeds College of Art. His sculptures often depict reclining figures, and can be found around the world. The old Hopper House #building on East Parade in #Leeds, is now grade 2 listed, and commemorated with a Leeds Civic Trust blue plaque. Today it is an #Iberica Spanish #tapas #restaurant. As a #city, #Leeds is rich in some extremely #varied #architecture. The vast range of architectural styles, gives those visiting a constant visual feast of #history, #heritage, #art and #technology. The city itself is art, so called #architainment (not my word I hasten to add!). The buildings of Leeds are surely a key strength in its bid to become Capital of #Culture 2023. This wonderful piece of public #art in #WestAuckland, #CountyDurham, #England commemorates the #culture and #heritage of the town, as being the winners of the first ever #football #WorldCup final in 1909, where they beat FC Winterthur from Switzerland 2-0. The #statue features a coal #miner in #goalie pose noting the areas mining history, and that the winning football team was made up of coal miners who took unpaid time off of work to play. #sculpture #history #soccer #sport #fact #travel #tourism #tourist #leisure #life
